With extensive race knowledge, Matt develops effective strategies for athletes of all levels and brings a positive and motivating approach to triathlon.
Matt’s Background:
Coach Matt is a seasoned C26 triathlete with thirteen years of racing experience. In addition to his USA Triathlon coaching certification, he holds a bachelor’s degree in Health Services Administration from James Madison University and a master’s in Healthcare Management from Frostburg State University. Matt’s accomplishments include being a five-time Ironman, an Ironman World Championship qualifier, a two-time Team USA athlete, and is an AG National Champion.
Training Philosophy:
- Matt believes that teamwork and partnership are essential to successful coaching relationships. This focuses on the three Cs: communication, communication, and communication!
- He abides by the golden rule, treating others as we would want to be treated, and strives to give athletes the tools to succeed at what makes them truly happy.
- At the end of the day, you pick the destination, and Matt will chart the course. Then we’ll go there together.
Coaching History:
Over the last four years, Matt has coached beginner athletes racing their very first sprint, first Ironman, and even Team USA athletes and Ironman World Championship qualifiers. The proof is in the results. His athletes have achieved overall wins, age group podiums, personal records, and most importantly, found joy in their daily training. No matter where we start, we’ll get better one interval, one day, one week, and one month at a time!
Matt is dedicated to helping his athletes grow and succeed in both training and on race day!
